Getting to Know Principles and Practices in Strength and Conditioning

Friday August 29, 2008

It's a little bewildering when you first start thinking about strength training if you've not been involved in it previously. There is a substantial amount of basic information to grasp before you even think about learning the main muscles, tendons, ligaments and bones and how they work and which exercises stimulate them -- or how you can hurt yourself if you lift something with poor form, and a bunch of other stuff as well.

Don't let that put you off. The basics are not too difficult to read up on; then it's good value to use the services of a qualified and experienced personal trainer or strength and conditioning coach to iron out any misunderstandings and prescribe a program that suits your circumstances and fitness.
