Exercise can help you maintain or enhance bone density and strength, especially into senior years. But you need to start as early as possible. Weight-bearing exercise, especially 'impact' exercise is recommended for best results. Strength and conditioning exercises help in two ways: By strengthening bone, and by increasing muscle mass and strength, which helps you avoid falls, one of the main causes of bone fractures.
