Strength Training

I do strength training with dumbbells for toning as well as trying to stop/reverse muscle loss and loss of bone density as I age.

For Better Everything

Initially started on a major fat discarding journey. Results: fat reduction, muscle gain, which gave me amazing smaller size clothing at goal weight than I'd ever had at that weight before! Also have boundless energy & I'm 62 . And best of all- nothing hurts anymore.

Why I weight train

I beleive weight training makes me feel better about myself, both physically & mentally.also it is a sport where you can just compete against yourself. I would like to see how strong i can get & still stay as toned as possible.my favorite lift is to see how far I can push myself in the bench press.

Fat Loss

I started doing more serious weight training as a way to lower my body fat (based on Tom Venuto's Body Fat Solution book which I heard about on this blog). The combination of strength training and cardio did far more to lower my body fat than cardio alone and with less time spent doing cardio. Now I'm totally hooked and am doing more to increase my strength.

A better social life

Because a more fit, muscular appearance as a single gay guy means more guys smile at you, and you know what than means... Plus, more strength means it's easier to do everyday tasks, or to hike mountains and not get so winded. Unfortunately, it also dramatically increases my grocery bill...

Strength and Fitness

I do moderate strength training. I like to have some tone in my muscles, I like to be strong, and I like the bone saving aspects of weight training as well.
